A PWGEN TRADITION, REIMAGINEDShow more choices

Another fresh set, using the same password rules. Each choice stays on your device.

Set the number of choices in the generator’s advanced options. Protect any downloaded secret file.

    Rules without the guesswork

The initial password contains 20 characters, including at least one lowercase letter, uppercase letter, digit and symbol. The 74-character ASCII pool avoids spaces, quotes, slashes and backticks. A website may still have narrower rules: use the switches and exclusions to match them, rather than editing the generated value by hand. Every change replaces the current result.

    Minimums and honest estimates

A minimum of three digits reserves three independent digit draws before filling the remaining positions and securely shuffling everything. Requiring more groups is a compatibility option, not a shortcut to extra strength. The displayed bound accounts for these forced draws; it does not assume that all valid strings have equal probability. If repetition is disabled, each remaining choice comes from a smaller pool.

    One password, one account

Store the result in a password manager and generate a different one for each account. For values you must type often, try a random-word passphrase. Use batch mode only for a real need, and protect any exported file. No history is kept when you leave this page.

    Useful to know.

Why can a rule combination fail?

The total group minimums cannot exceed the password length. With repetition disabled, each group and the complete pool must contain enough different characters. An impossible policy clears the previous value rather than producing a weaker substitute.

Is the basic password weaker than a customized one?

No. Customization accommodates restrictions. The initial 20-character password is already designed for password-manager storage; advanced settings are not required for security.
